The British Academy of Fencing's twice yearly residential courses at Denstone College have rapidly come to be among the biggest and most successful coaching courses in the world, and have attacted students from all over the country and abroad.

Each course caters for coaches of all levels, from Level One beginners to those in the final stages of becoming Fencing Masters and all are treated with the same dedicated and meticulous care from the educators in charge. Each course is staffed by a team of fencing masters with many years of experience in coach education, in addition to their own extensive experience as working coaches producing fencers at national and international levels.

One outstanding feature of our course is that the staff always includes at least one member (and generally more) of the Standing Subcommittee on Technique and Terminology. This means that students are taught quite literally by those who wrote the book on the subject.

Examinations at all levels are held at the end of the week for those who wish to take them. Examiners are independent from the staff on the course and are closely monitored to ensure the very highest standards of fairness and transparency. Our teaching staff remain on hand throughout the exam day to provide any needed support or last minute advice.

We pride ourselves of providing a friendly supportive atmosphere conducive to hard work during the week and many friendships are made during the social hours at mealtimes and in the evenings. We hope that all those who come on our courses leave with their skills and confidence boosted and their qualifications improved.

Accommodation
Participants are provided with comfortable single rooms, with shared bathrooms. Female participants are generally accomodated in a separate block which includes its own kitchen.

A large common room and kitchen is available for use by all participants.

All meals are provided in the school's dining hall with a choice of cooked or continental breakfasts in the morning, a cooked meal or salad option at lunch and three course dinner in the evening. Portions are self serve and ample. Vegetarians and special diets are catered for but the course officer should be notified in advance if such arrangements are needed.

For further information and to register, please contact the Course Officer.
